Located in southern Asia and washed by the clear waters of the Bay of Bengal, Bangladesh offers a wonderful and long sandy beaches, great for water sports. Diverse in nature, Bangladesh has the largest mangrove forest in the world that houses many endangered species.

In addition, this small but populous country, is rich in history and culture and has many beautiful Islamic mosques, Buddhist temples and fascinating tribal Indian villages to explore. However, the volatile political situation in Bangladesh hampers the growth of tourism in the country.

Mosques, palaces, beaches and safaris in Bangladesh

A colorful and vibrant capital of Bangladesh, Dhaka is located in central Bangladesh on the banks of the river Buringanga. The largest city in Bangladesh is rich in culture and history and has many attractions to visit like: beautiful mosques, palaces, museums, green parks and gardens attract visitors from around the world.

The city was a famous center of Muslim commerce (cotton cloth) in the 17th century. The old Dhaka in the south of the city remains an important port and has many historical sites. The historic city of Bagerhat interesting hosts Islamic shrines to visit.

Nature & indigenous cultures.

A substantial part of the Bangladesh coast is the Sundarbans mangrove forest, which is one of the largest mangrove forest in the world and World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The area has a diverse and unique flora and is inhabited by many endangered species like the Bengal Tiger.

Tour operators, many in Dhaka organized safari tours to the Sundarbans mangroves that are home to large numbers of wildlife. Those visitors interested in indigenous people in Bangladesh should also visit Rangamati district outside the city of Chittagong.
