St. Martin’s Island is a small island in the northeastern Gulf of Bengal, about 9 km south of the tip of the Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf peninsula, forming the southernmost part of Bangladesh.
It is the only coral island in Bangladesh.
Located about 8 km west of the northwest coast of Myanmar at the mouth of the river Naf. The local name of the island is “Narical Gingira” also spelled “Narikel Jinjera”, translated from Bangla, meaning “Coconut Island“.
The island of St. Martin, is being visited by many foreigners and local level as it has become a popular resort. Currently has three shipping lines in which they make daily trips to the island. Tourists can book their trip either from Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar.
The environment of coral reefs of the island have an extension named Chera Dwip.
